Hi, I'm John Lorow
A Nairobi-based product designer who builds what he designs, with a focus on people that technology usually leaves out.
Why me
I have over four years' experience as a product designer who also builds and ships, so I can deliver the booking tool, the access guide and the braille menus myself.
- Kenya EmergencyAccess: a USSD emergency-services platform that works on any phone, without a smartphone or data
- Carbon-offset onboarding: separate flows for rural, low-bandwidth project owners and urban buyers, based on research with both groups
- ERP design system: used across more than five institutions
- Menu-to-braille tool: in development, using open-source braille translation libraries
How I'll work
I don't run nightlife venues, so this project is built around the people who do, and around Deaf and disabled experts who lead the audits and shape the guide.
My role is the technology, the project management and the documentation. Everyone who contributes is paid for their time.
